Up early and to the airport to fly to Iquitos.
We were met in Iquitos by our guide Orlando. We drove through Iquitos in an open bus and past the markets and the river front. It was a crazy place with 100's of motor scooter taxis everywhere as well as busses. Orlando said there are 25,000 of these scooters in Iquitos. It is a very crowded and busy city.
We drove to the office of Explorama and from there onto a boat the "Amazon Queen". We had a box lunch aboard the boat while we chugged downriver to the Explorama lodges..We dropped off some people at Ceiba lodge and then went on to the Explorama lodge. It was up many stairs but they brought our bags up. We walked about 10 min to the lodge. It is all walkways and screened rooms - bar and dining room - hammock room, under thatched roof. We went to our rooms which are all connected but have their own bathroom. There is no ceiling, just a roof over all with open air everywhere. There are long wooden walkways connecting all the buildings and rooms. We went to dinner in the dining room and then for a night walk. It was a bright full moon so there wasn't much to see. But the caymens eyes in the pond and a tree frog. But it was a very pretty night. To bed under our mosquito netting and it cooled off enough for a nice nights sleep.
